Overview
Eligible students may receive $1,500 per semester if enrolled full-time, or $750 per semester if enrolled part-time. The award supports a wide range of trade and technical education, including but not limited to automotive technology, plumbing, electronics, construction, diesel technology, cybersecurity, and many other computer and technical programs.
Key details and limits
- Awards are intended for current term enrollment in qualifying technical or trade programs.
- Recipients can combine this scholarship with other awards over the course of their studies; however, total support cannot exceed the equivalent of four semesters of full-time funding or eight semesters of part-time funding.

- Fall term applications: September 1

Who is eligible
To qualify for $1,500 per semester (full-time) or $750 per semester (part-time), applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
1. Be a resident of Montana as defined by Board of Regents Policy 940.1.
2. File a FAFSA (note: students in dual credit programs are exempt from the FAFSA requirement).
3. Demonstrate Unmet Need, calculated as Cost of Attendance minus Student Aid Index (SAI) minus other aid (excluding loans).
4. Be in good standing at a qualifying campus by maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
5. Be enrolled in at least 6 credits in an approved program.
Application procedure
Applications require completion of several steps by the applicable deadline for consideration:
- Confirm you meet the eligibility criteria listed above.
- Submit the scholarship application via the Award Montana Portal.
- Be actively enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits at one of the qualifying campuses or programs for the term being applied for.
