Some scholarships are discipline-specific (for example, broadcast journalism or broadcast engineering), while others are tied to particular institutions or geographic areas according to donor instructions.
Eligibility
- Open to students attending accredited two-year or four-year colleges, universities, or colleges of technology in Montana (specific awards may have additional requirements).
- Individual scholarships may be restricted by field of study, year in school, or campus; see each award description for details.
Available scholarships
- Montana Broadcasters Association / Joe Durso, Jr. Memorial Scholarship: Presented each spring during Dean Stone Night, the University of Montana School of Journalism awards banquet. This scholarship honors Joe Durso, Jr.—a former MBA board member and former chair of UM’s Radio-Television Department who died unexpectedly in 1998—and is awarded to an outstanding University of Montana junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism.
- Montana Broadcasters Association Diversity Scholarship: Intended to support greater diversity within Montana broadcast operations. This scholarship is available to students attending any two- or four-year college or university in the state.
