Essay prompt
A large number of personal injury claims stem from situations in which someone owed another person a duty to act reasonably to keep them safe—and failed to do so. This concept is called a “duty of care.” For example, motorists are expected to obey traffic laws; when they do not, crashes occur that can cause severe harm. Describe other circumstances where a duty of care exists and explain the consequences that follow when that duty is neglected.
Award
One recipient will receive a single, nonrenewable $1,000 scholarship. Funds will be sent directly to the college or university’s admissions or financial office.
Deadline and notification
Applications must be submitted by May 30, 2026. The winner will be notified directly in July 2026. Scholarship recipients’ names will be posted on this web page.
