Duluth Building & Construction Trades Council Scholarship Fund — Background
This scholarship fund was created from the proceeds of the sale of Shoreview House of Hope. Shoreview was founded in the 1980s to provide lodging for patients and their families who traveled to Duluth for medical care. The Duluth Building & Construction Trades Council received the Minnesota AFL-CIO Community Services Award for its work with Shoreview. As the regional health care system later addressed those housing needs, the council sold the facility and used the funds to establish this scholarship.
