Hansen Scholar Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Dane G. Hansen Educational Scholarships
Overview
- Up to thirty-five Hansen Scholar Scholarships will be awarded to eligible high school seniors. Each scholarship provides $6,500 per year and may be renewed for three additional years if the recipient continues to meet the Scholarship Committee’s requirements.
Eligibility
- Must be a high school senior graduating in the current academic year.
- Must be pursuing the Board of Regents recommended curriculum.
- Must demonstrate a record of service and participation in extracurricular activities.
- Recipients are required to enroll as full‑time, on‑campus students at an accredited four‑year college or university in Kansas (public, private, or church‑related).
Renewal Requirements
- Annual review of college transcripts is required. Continued scholarship renewal depends on:
- Maintaining a college GPA of 3.00 or higher.
- Ongoing adherence to the principles that guided the late Dane G. Hansen.
- Submission of a progress report describing advancement toward educational goals.
Application and Testing — Important Deadline
- Your high school principal or counselor must send a list of students who intend to take the qualifying test to the Hansen Foundation Office (Box 187, Logan, Kansas 67646) before September 4, 2025.
- Counselors should verify the test time, date, and location in their packet and on the poster, and inform students accordingly.
Materials Students Must Bring on Test Day
Students are responsible for submitting the following items at the time of testing:
- An official high school transcript with cumulative GPA and class rank clearly circled.
- Documentation of a current ACT score of 23 or higher.
- A resume that includes:
1. High school courses in which the student is presently enrolled.
2. College courses for which credit has already been earned and any college courses that will be completed by June 1, 2026.
3. Work history, extracurricular involvement, and community activities.
Interviews and References
- Students selected for interviews will receive notification instructing them to arrange for three reference questionnaires to be submitted on their behalf.
- It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all three references are returned to the Hansen Foundation. Applicants who do not provide three references will not be considered.
